The Eddie Coggar Shield

In 1996 it was decided that in addition to the FerryBoat Shield Trophy, a award should be made to a player who in the opinion of the society is deserving of recognition for their performance over the year. To the compliment the FerryBoat Shield, which is based on overall best performance, the Eddie Coggar Shield was introduced to allow the society to recognize aspects such as, an outstanding round or rounds, consistency, effort or any other aspects which the society deems worthy.

The Eddie Coggar Shield was won in 96/97 by Graham Rowley, then in 97/98 by Ian Brackenbury. The trophy then went into “hiding” until it was re-discovered in November 2002.

The award was re-introduced at the Christmas Presentation Evening  on 13th December 2002 and was awarded to John Bailey for consistent good play during the year. From that time it continues to be awarded annually at the Chrsitmas Presentation Evening for the purpose for which it was originally intended…

…. To honor a worthy recipient.
